History. St Nicholas' Church is a Grade II* listed building. The church's dedication was changed into St Nicholas having previously been dedicated to St Magnus Martyr. The church was rebuilt inreusing medieval foundations and is considered a good example of the early Gothic rebuilding was financed by the Frampton family, who lived in the nearby manor tion: St Nicholas.

St Nicholas, Moreton is an unusual church in many ways. For a start it is a rare example of Georgian Gothic. Although there has been a church on this site since aroundthe present building dates fromwhen it was completely rebuilt by the local landowner, James Frampton.

St Nicholas Moreton is world famous for the engraved glass windows by Laurence Whistler and for the grave of Lawrence of Arabia in the cemetery. The original dedication to St Magnus Martyr was changed to St. Nicholas in Bombing on 8 October extensively damaged the church.

Bishop Nicholas had all these things taken onto a ship. It was a beautiful ship, quite white and the sails of the ship were as blue as the sky and as blue as the mantle of the Bishop Nicholas.
